“HELLO MY NAME IS…MAN.G” Although many of the subculture artists with tremendous passion and great potentials have been trying their utmost, the journey to introduce themselves to the larger crowd has been always extremely difficult. Diverse and young artists in the subculture – Graffiti, Hip-hop, Indie music and more – are tagging on walls, local phone booths, electric poles with their crew names and record labels, or they also do stickerbombing by putting many stickers with their unique logos on the streets and buildings. They know the heavy pain during the journey of creativity in the subculture and this is why it was initiated by the subculture artists many years ago to express themselves freely, feel the empathy, feel engaged together and feel that they are not alone in this harsh world. Even if Tagging / Stickerbombing activities after midnight are one of only few ways for them to introduce themselves to the public, they would have very strong potentials to become fantastic artists around us representing this age. Designer Man.G himself has been part of the journey together for years and would like to express it for this season. Man.G will interpret the experience and infuse it to the unique design for the collection. Furthermore, this is truly for a number of great subculture artists, always experimenting for innovation with every effort. “HELLO MY NAME IS…………”The concept from the collection of MAN.G this season, 2019SS is very intuitive. It will be a great show that MAN.G shall just passionately share the favorite colors, which can be regarded MAN.G’s identity, to people rather than concretely elaborating why those colors have been reflected to the designs. No perfectionist, no perfect paintings. It will appear that something is missing from it but this eventually becomes even closer to children’s purity and innocence. This can create the space where people can come and warmly feel the design together, which MAN.G would like to expect from the show. Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, Black, White and Pink. MAN.G loves these colors as they are and infuses this concept into the designs in order to vitalize the brand even livelier with clearness and power of the originality coming from the plain color. It is the intention of MAN.G for the show and the designer’s philosophy. MAN.G originated from ‘Act of painting’ clearly presents the future direction of the brand. While MAN.G introduces the unique theme, ‘Painter’s Workwear’ for this season, it shows intuitively adorable designs and delivers the passionate philosophy of the brand at the same time. Designs of the painting tools, goggles and gears have been conceptually consistent and basic for many years However, MAN.G confidently re-interprets this genre to a newer way of expressing it, vividly adding its own style of colour mix. Furthermore, through this creative experiment, MAN.G comes to establish more detailed sub-categories and make its designs able to practically embrace professionalism of painters and artists. The sufficient storage space for pens and note pads in the designs helps the artists to capture innovative ideas immediately at work. Even stain from colour paints or dirt from painting work could naturally become part of stylish add-on designs. All painters – no matter where they work and what they paint – have their own spirit and philosophy on their art work. While they are passionately painting, the clothes can get dirty and all the colors may be poured on their hands and bodies. Moreover, often, you can imagine they just roughly rub here and there to remove and clean it. MAN.G, vividly expresses this enthusiastic effort and truthful feeling. MAN.G does not allow simple inspiration with superficial description or instant mimicking of the diverse colors and painting materials. Instead, MAN.G is GRAPHISTE, who wants to tell the true story on his spirit and philosophy, attained from his priceless experience that he physically painted his work and conducted other various art projects. For this season, MAN.G’s design is genuinely based on his past and his experience rather than “just new” options. His past and present as a painter will be nicely integrated and creatively re-interpreted into the design.
