In a fashion world where trends change at breakneck speed, South Korean designer Choi Joonghoon takes a different path—he creates clothes that blend dreams, feelings, and art. His brand, Doucan, is a shining example of this: bold colors, artistic prints, and a femininity conveyed not through formulaic forms, but through mood.
The new 26SS “Lucid Bloom” collection, which will be presented at Eurasian Fashion Week, depicts a dreamy yet emotionally awakened state—a femininity blossoming on the border between dream and reality.
From a young age, Choi Junhoon knew he wanted to be a creator. His path in fashion was not accidental, but a conscious pursuit of his inner impulse. It all began with the art of makeup: in 1997, he graduated from the Christian Chauveau Makeup Academy in Paris, after which he began working with iconic fashion houses on the world’s best shows—Givenchy, Chanel, Dior, Valentino, Jean Paul Gaultier, Gucci, and Balmain—in both ready-to-wear and haute couture.

He later gained valuable experience as a designer’s assistant at Kenzo and Chanel. But the real turning point occurred in France: after graduating from Studio Bercot Fashion Design in 1999, Choi finally decided to devote himself to fashion design. After years of hard work, he debuted his own brand at Paris Fashion Week in 2022.
Doucan is a premium designer brand that reinterprets the essence of Eastern fantasy through a modern lens. Nature, light, and the passage of time are key sources of inspiration for Choi Joonghoon when creating unique, vibrant, and authentic prints and looks. The designer, also an artist, shares, “I always start with art. I strive to combine it with fashion to express my DNA through current trends.”
The new Spring/Summer SS2026 collection, Lucid Bloom, reflects the delicate line between reality and dreams. The name itself alludes to lucid dreaming, where “Lucid” signifies a clear and conscious state, and “Bloom” signifies a blossoming flower. The modern woman’s inner and outer worlds are revealed through soft, translucent textures with a pearlescent sheen, flowing silhouettes, asymmetrical cutouts, and layered details. The collection is simultaneously delicate and bold—like Doucan himself.
“I wanted to convey the magical beauty we see in our dreams,” the designer shared.
For Choi Junghoon, Kazakhstan has become a special place—his brand finds not only an audience but also friends here. “I love Kazakhstan. It’s a pleasure to be here and work with my Kazakh friends. This place inspires me, and I hope Doucan will find a home here,” says Choi Junghoon.
